'The air is chill and so is the post. Two couriers fresh from the road chop some wood and light the stove in a Warming Post. It is not long before water boils and tea can be made to warm them from the inside. In the beams, a mistletoe dragon whoís curled around the beams sighs in content.
'The vignette began with the idea of a mistletoe dragon in place of a wreath, hanging from the beams of a porch. This idea was itself inspired by the more traditional festive decorations appearing around town. As the sketch progressed, the porch lost its house entirely and became a solitary structure standing out in the wintry weather. It retained its letterbox and so became a self-service post cafÈ in the tradition of mountain cabins where travellers maintain the wood and supplies for the next fellows.
'I used the Derwent pencil brush in Procreate for the concept and once the sketch was sufficiently realised I switched to the Dry Ink brush for the linework. I added shade and colours last with a modified Studio Pen, drawing from a small ëFrosting Seasoní inspired swatch.
'This is the prequel to the íFrosting CafÈí vignettes from the Oldewoods world. Itís the place from where all the Frosting CafÈs became known by means of postcards that were collected here.'
